Global Underwater Explorers emerged out of a shared desire to safely explore and protect the underwater world and to improve the quality of education and research in all things aquatic.
In line with the original vision of its founding members, GUE is committed to:
Working to redefine the ties binding the average underwater enthusiast to underwater explorers, conservationists and scientific researchers GUE is committed to the overall goal of promoting the interests of the underwater world and of those who seek to engage it.
Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) is a non-profit organization formed by leading explorers, researchers, and educators; these individuals are dedicated to the training of divers as well as the study and protection of the aquatic realm.
GUE and its associated projects are responsible for conducting some of the world's most remarkable dives, setting numerous world records in the process. The success of this group encouraged great interest in their diving and procedures. Of particular interest is the promotion of solid fundamental skills for all divers (recreational and technical) as well as their adherence to a common diving standard. This general standard requires:
Poor diving skills and inefficient equipment often results in unnecessary exertion, stress, degradation of the dive site, and thus less enjoyment. GUE's vibrant history includes both recreational excursions and aggressive exploration diving.
This experience has led GUE and likeminded divers around the world to embrace the need for greater diving proficiency. These enhanced skills provide greater enjoyment and less stress while also preserving fragile diving environments.
Divers experiencing difficulty in advanced dives and during technical training often suffer from poorly developed fundamental skills. Even amongst experienced divers, basic skills are often lacking - including good buoyancy control, efficient propulsion techniques and effective air sharing techniques.
Consequently, the GUE system aims to shift the industry away from quantity and toward a focus that insisted upon greater capacity from motivated individuals. As a non-profit education, research, conservation and exploration agency Global Underwater Explorers is ideally suited to encourage robust training - GUE training may be purchased but certification must always be earned!
GUE's diver training is distributed across a diverse educational curricula, including recreational diving, cave diving, technical diving and rebreather diving.
I have been diving since 1998, and over the past 20 years I’ve developed a deep passion and expertise in technical cave and deep wreck diving, certified by GUE. Specializing in coldwater, cave, and tech diving, I’ve earned qualifications such as GUE Cave 2, CCR 2, and Rec 1 Instructor, which have allowed me to hone my skills through decades of hands-on experience. As a GUE Fundamentals Instructor, I focus on both safety and enjoyment, ensuring that every dive is as educational as it is thrilling. My background as a Medical Doctor and Trauma Surgery Educator brings an extra level of discipline and clarity to my teaching, so you can feel secure and well-informed during every underwater adventure. I teach in Danish, English, Norwegian, and Swedish, and I take pride in offering personalized instruction to help divers of all levels explore and appreciate the underwater world safely.
